I love the way some families become part of your own story, not just your client list. I met this sweet mom long before I ever photographed them – a friend of a friend, turned my own dear friend, she was the labor and delivery nurse who helped bring my oldest daughter into the world. Months later I stood behind my camera at their engagement session in the Dallas Arts District, then Casey’s bridal portraits at the Lumen Room, their wedding day at the Thompson Hotel, their first newborn session with their baby boy, and now again as they welcome their daughter, Charlotte. I love how our stories have been woven together!
Walking into their home for Charlotte’s in-home newborn session felt like stepping into a familiar chapter. Big brother was so proud and so gentle, studying her tiny fingers and soft cheeks like he already understood how precious she is. The light was quiet and warm, the kind that makes ordinary moments feel sacred. I kept thinking how special it is that the hands that care for so many other mothers and babies now get to hold her own baby girl.
These are the sessions I never rush. The slow stretches, the sleepy yawns, the way dad tucks mom in close while she holds her newest little love – those are the memories that matter most. Charlotte fits so perfectly into this family, and watching them become a family of four was such a gift to witness. I kept seeing flashes of all the years before, every milestone that led us here.
It means more than I can say that they continue to invite me into their story. From their engagement session to those beautiful bridal portraits to the start of their marriage, and now to both of their newborn seasons, I have loved documenting it all.
Charlotte, you are already so loved. Thank you to this dear family for trusting me again and again with the moments that matter most.
