Balke Family Session at Norbuck Park | Dallas Family Photographer

There are some sessions that feel more like stepping into a familiar story than documenting something new, and this one with dear friends at Norbuck Park was exactly that. I’ve had the joy of photographing their lives from the very beginning – when it was just the two of them – and to now see their family full, growing, and so deeply connected is something I don’t take lightly.

This evening was simple in the best way. The kids wandered and searched for flowers, their curiosity leading the rhythm of our time together. There were rounds of ring around the rosie, little hands clasped together, followed by bursts of laughter and inevitable giggles as they fell into the grass. It felt carefree and light, the kind of childhood you hope they always remember.

What stood out most was the tenderness between them. The way the children naturally leaned into one another, snuggling close without being asked. The way their parents watched it all unfold with such quiet joy. There is a deep love here, steady and unassuming, woven into every interaction.

I have had the sweet honor of documenting this family so many sweet times (from this session all the way back in 2018 to their pregnancy announcement at the Dallas Arboretum to their in-home Dallas newborn session to Boston’s first birthday to mini sessions over the last few years to the arrival of their youngest son), and I love it every single time they’re in front of my camera!

Getting to witness a family over time like this is one of the greatest gifts of my work. Not just the milestones, but the in-between moments – the laughter, the play, the closeness that tells the real story. This season, just as it is, is already something worth holding onto.
