Filled with modern art and timeless details, this classically romantic wedding shoot was inspired by a series of paradoxes and the juxtaposition of contrasting ideas that pair together beautifully. Neutrals with pops of vibrant color, classic details infused with contemporary art and sculpture, and luxury infused with fine art bring the Nasher Sculpture Center to life.
Carefully curated details including paintings created by Jennifer Seibert, sculptures by Barbara Hepworth and Auguste Rodin, artfully crafted cakes and macarons, hand-dyed silk elements, stunning bride & groom, and the abundance of florals complete the feeling of modern yet timeless elegance.
Vibrant blooms were combined with transitional colors, modern white foliage, and contemporary luxury in arrangements and bouquets. The luscious floral designs inspired the paintings (acrylic paint on watercolor paper and canvas) used on the place settings and given as wedding favors. Plant-based dyes were used to create a subtle sheer gauze silk runner and the napkins that graced the table. The invitation suite took inspiration from the art in the Nasher Sculpture Center gardens, including sketches of Mark di Suvero’s Eviva Amore and Auguste Rodin’s Eve. Hand-dyed silk ribbons dripped from cake, bouquets, and place settings to tie all the elements together.
The two-tier cake embraced a modern shape with a timeless design and color palette and was adorned simply with silk ribbon. The square cake featured a watercolor texture and layered buttercream mirroring the slate wall in the Nasher Sculpture Center, while florals added vibrancy and romance. Artfully crafted macarons in deep blue, berry, ivory, and slate featured gold leaf, watercolor effects, and monochromatic buttercream roses.
The bride glowed in an elegant Lea Ann Belter gown with her groom in a classic black tux and bridesmaids in slate colored chiffon dresses. The brides had loose braids pinned into cascading curls and her natural rosy hues were accentuated, highlighting her eyes and lips.
Each detail was curated with intentionality and design to highlight the unique venue and the talent of the collaborating artists. This shoot for the modern, romantic bride has us wanting to grab our love and stroll the halls of the Met!
