There is something especially meaningful about photographing a family as it grows.

I first had this sweet family in front of my camera when I photographed Warren’s newborn session, and a few years later, I had the joy of photographing Avery as a newborn, too. So getting to return once again to document their newest little one, Walter, felt incredibly special.

Walter is already so loved. His big brother and big sister are completely smitten with their new baby brother, and watching the two of them love on him throughout his newborn session was the sweetest thing. There is such a tenderness in those first days together – the way they hold him, study his little face, and seem to still be taking in the fact that he is finally here.

And, of course, Mom and Dad are just as in love with this sweet boy. After photographing their family through these different seasons, it was such a gift to see them with three children in their arms.

Newborn sessions are some of my favorite sessions to photograph because they preserve more than just how a baby looked in those fleeting first weeks. They capture the feeling of a family at the very beginning of a new chapter – the tiny hands, sleepy cuddles, sibling love, and all the little details that are so easy to forget as everyone grows.

I’m so grateful to have been invited back again and again to document this family. From Warren to Avery to Walter, it has been such a privilege to photograph these beautiful milestones and to create images that they can look back on for years to come.
