Some stories unfold slowly, over years, and it is one of the greatest privileges to witness them from beginning to beginning again.
I’ve known Ellen and Nick for years through our church, and over time had the honor of photographing their engagement session in Highland Park at Flippen Park & Prather Park, her bridal portraits at Highland Park Presbyterian Church, and their wedding day – each season marking the start of something new. Their wedding at Highland Park Presbyterian Church and Royal Oaks Country Club was filled with so much intention and joy… the kind that quietly hinted at all that was still to come.
And now, I stepped into their home to meet their son.
Sweet Hank.
There is something especially meaningful about being invited into this chapter after walking with them through so many others. Their home was calm and full of light, settling into the gentle rhythm of life with a newborn. The nursery they prepared, the quiet in-between moments, the way they held him so naturally – it all felt like a continuation of the same story, just turned to a new page.
Hank was peaceful and content, already so deeply at home in their arms. The kind of love that once felt like a promise on a wedding day is now something you can see, tangible and steady, in the way they care for him.
These are the moments that become part of a family’s legacy – not just the milestones, but the threads that connect them.
Ellen and Nick, it has been such a gift to know you and to document each of these seasons. Watching you step into parenthood has been so special.
Sweet Hank, you are already so very loved.
