Three Tips for How to Get Beautiful Photos of Your Wedding Dress | Dallas Wedding Photographer
Who doesn’t love a beautiful wedding dress shot!? If you’re hoping to get a gorgeous shot of your gown before you put it on, you’re in the right place. Check out my three tips below for how to get beautiful photos of your wedding dress.
Tip One: Have a great hanger. Often times, the hanger your gown will come on will be plastic or metal, and may include stuffing or cardboard to keep your dress in its correct shape. These can be great for making sure your dress keeps its form, but they aren’t the most photogenic options! I recommend checking BHLDN, Etsy, or antique stores to find something customized, vintage, or fitting to your wedding theme. That way, your dress shines through in the images and you’re not distracted by the less-than-beautiful plastic hanger!
Tip Two: Have your wedding dress hanging & ready to go. I suggest the first thing you do when you get to your bridal suite is take your gown out and hang it in a safe, clean location so that any creases or wrinkles can fall out before you need to get dressed. If possible, lay out the train fully, and be sure that it’s in a spot that it won’t get stepped on. Not only will this make sure your dress is ready for you to get into, but it will also allow your photographer to simply grab your dress and hang it to be photographed, rather than having to take it out of the bag, have it steamed, and remove any stuffing or cardboard.
Tip Three: Trust your photographer. Your photographer will know where the most beautiful lighting is and where your dress will photograph most beautifully. Trust them! If you have a specific location or idea, mention it to them, but keep an open mind if they suggest an alternate spot with better lighting.
