Friends, today is the day I finally get to unveil my new brand design! A completely fresh brand, website, and blog. I am endlessly excited to be sharing this with you. Sami Kathryn Photography is more than just a job for me, and the love and detail that Sarah Ann Design and I poured into this brand feels like I’m sharing a piece of my heart with you. I hope you love it as much as I do.
I think every big project that we create for ourselves starts with a why. A purpose, a goal, an intention. When I first began the design process with Sarah, she sent over a questionnaire and I took some time to really lean into my vision for SKP, my dreams for my business, and the way I want to care for people. My hope for this brand is that it helps cultivate an experience for my clients that is both cohesive & polished while genuinely celebrating the joyful covenant of marriage.
An intentional and polished brand, designed to welcome engaged couples who appreciate the sentimentality of heirloom imagery and the significance of a covenant marriage. Thoughtful photography with a timeless feel; purposeful images to capture authentic love stories and preserve emotive moments for generations yet to come.
Sarah made the design process so much fun, and such a joy. She created so many incredibly meaningful brand pieces for me that I don’t even know how I’m going to share them all in one blog post – but I’ll give it my best shot!
Sarah crafted a stunning logo & monogram, highlighting the abbreviation I so affectionally call my business, SKP. I love that the logo includes Heirloom Wedding Photography, a unique way to describe my approach to wedding photography – that it’s a part of the legacy of your marriage, a celebration of the start of your future together, and something that I pray is passed from one generation to the next. It also includes our home base here in Dallas, Texas – a city that has meant so much to me. It’s where I met my husband, where SKP began, where we started our life together, where we bought our first home, & where we’ve settled down roots.
The website is everything I could have hoped for. Easy to navigate, full of information, education, & free resources, and of course, oh so many images of my sweet wedding couples. I think my favorite page is probably the home page, just because there is so much information there, and so much of my heart shared in one place!! Sarah really did such an incredible job designing an online home for SKP.
It’s so important for me to provide helpful resources to my brides – after all, they’ve likely never planned a wedding before, and there are so many things to think about! So, Sarah helped me beautify the SKP Bridal Guide and give it some love so that it’s seamlessly incorporated into my new brand, giving my clients a cohesive experience.
One of my favorite new educational resources is a brand new page on my website designed especially for SKP brides – with links to helpful blog posts, lists of my recommended vendors, access to the SKP Brides Facebook group & Bridal Guide, and extra resources designed especially for them. While only SKP Brides have access to this page, I couldn’t help but give you a little sneak peek!
While going through the process of defining the SKP brand, I began to think about my own marriage, and the hopes, prayers, and dreams that I have for me and Matt. I loved our wedding. I loved planning and preparing and choosing details, and the day we got married was so fun, and such a sweet celebration of our relationship. It was beautiful, and I loved every second, but I want our marriage to be even more beautiful!! Our wedding was just the first step in what I hope is a full life together – one that I am sure will be imperfect and authentic, but that I pray is full of grace, seeped in adventure, constantly pursuing wisdom, overflowing with joy, and more resilient with each passing day. In our bedroom, we have five of our wedding photos framed and we have our vows hand-painted by Simply Jessica Marie… these sweet reminders of the promises we gave each other and the reason we committed to life together help me remember that our marriage is valuable, wonderful, and so sweet. Sarah took the prayer that I wrote for my own marriage and turned it into the beautiful print you see below.
But then she took it a step further, and I am so in love with the result! She created a custom illustration of a bouquet of flowers. Each flower represents one of the words from this hope for marriage: grace, adventure, wisdom, joy, and resilience. Such a brilliant way to remind me of my purpose as a wedding photographer and my hope as a wife!
As if that wasn’t all enough, throughout my website & all the touches that my clients will receive, you’ll see extra elements like illustrations of my favorite venues, beautiful patterns that incorporate the SKP color palette, florals, & monogram, and touches of calligraphy that tie everything together.
I’m hoping that this brand shares a little bit about the passion behind SKP, and that these are the things at the heart of this business:
Friends, thank you for letting me share all of this with you and for following along on this adventure!! Sharing this brand with you feels like such a big step, and I’m surprised by how emotional, proud, and sentimental it has me feeling. I love you all to pieces and am grateful that so many of you have let me be a part of the start of your marriage.
Sarah – wow. You are amazing. Thank you for helping me define my purpose, for breathing vision into this brand, and for reminding what an incredible job I have. You are such a gift to your clients, and I can’t express enough how very grateful I am for your talents, your excellence in everything you do, and the way you went above & beyond to make this brand feel like me. I love you, friend!
