My previous job was in mental health counseling and education fields. I took a long sabbatical raising my daughter at home after I received my doctorate in Education. When my child was at school age, I no longer felt like going to work full-time, and I was attracted to do something that is more creative. I found floral design and never looked back. Being a florist is intensely physical, but the life is good!
. . .
One reason I particularly enjoy working with brides, is the opportunity to be a part of someone’s big day. I feel extremely honored and privileged that the brides trust me to handle their wedding florals. There is nothing makes me happier than my clients tell me how much they enjoyed my flowers. In addition, I also enjoy the relationship I have developed with my past brides/customers. Ninety percent of our business comes from referrals from our past clients and friends.
. . .
I am not a big trend-led florist, because times change. I believe every couple should have a wedding that is totally them. My job is to help brides to make informed decisions regarding their floral style and needs that fit within their budget. Having said that, I do love the organic and natural style recently. Regardless what trend we are having, be sure that texture, details and movement are incorporate into the design.
. . .
I would say, choose quality over quantity. This could be choosing just a single maid of honor or just one or two of bridesmaid. In addition, have a statement bridal bouquet instead of something that is average.
. . .
I suggest to consider bringing a little wow factor into their weddings. Having a statement piece would be a great addition in any wedding. This could be anything, for example, a beautiful moon gate arch, or a large entryway piece. The wow factor should add more dimension and visual interest in the whole wedding decor.
. . .
The brides should trust their own instinct when it comes to choose a florist. They should look for a florist who is open to their ideas and whose taste they respect. This can be done by going over the florist social media pages and website.
. . .
I recommend looking online. Google search or Instagram is a great tool. Also, I would suggest talking to newlyweds.
. . .
One of the best ways to find your florist is by word of mouth. It is important that the brides choose a florist who’s reliable, capable and within their price range. Being a small boutique florist, I think being able to communicate with the owner/designer directly is helpful as one can get an answer quickly if needed.
