Carmen and John’s wedding weekend was beautiful, elegant, and above all, incredibly joyful.
From their engagement session at White Rock Lake to Carmen’s bridal portraits at The Ritz-Carlton Las Colinas, their rehearsal dinner at Las Colinas Country Club and finally their wedding day, I had the gift of photographing so many parts of this season of their lives. And through every part of it, one thing was unmistakable: these two are just so much fun together.
Carmen and John were laughing, being silly, and genuinely enjoying each other all day long. Even in the midst of all the beautiful details and carefully planned moments, there was never a sense that they were taking themselves too seriously. They were simply happy to be together, surrounded by the people they love, celebrating the beginning of their marriage.
Carmen and John were married at the Cistercian Abbey, one of the most beautiful and meaningful ceremony settings in the Dallas area. The historic architecture and quiet beauty of the abbey created such a special atmosphere for their vows and made the ceremony feel every bit as significant as the moment itself.
But even with the grandeur of the setting, Carmen and John remained completely themselves. They laughed. They smiled. They soaked it all in. Their joy was contagious.
After the ceremony, the celebration continued at The Ritz-Carlton Dallas, Las Colinas. The reception was elegant and full of energy, with beautiful details, a gorgeous setting, and a dance floor that reflected exactly what their wedding day felt like from beginning to end: joyful.
Some of my favorite photographs from their day are the ones where they are simply being themselves. Carmen laughing with John. The two of them being silly together. The little in-between moments that could never have been planned but somehow say so much about who they are. Those are the photographs that make a wedding gallery feel like more than a collection of beautiful images. They preserve the feeling of the day – not just how it looked, but how it felt to actually be there.
Carmen and John, it was such a joy to walk through this entire season with you both. Your joy, your friendship, and the way you love to have fun together made this wedding so special to photograph.
Thank you for trusting me to preserve it all. It was truly an honor to be there for every part of it.
