There are some sessions where you leave thinking, I could have kept photographing these two all day. Sam and Ben were absolutely one of those couples.

We spent their engagement session wandering through two of my favorite spots in Highland Park – Lakeside Park and Prather Park – and from the very beginning, they were so sweet, so genuine, and so effortlessly fun. They had me laughing pretty much the entire time, which made photographing them feel less like a session and more like spending an afternoon with two friends.

Lakeside Park was the perfect place to begin. Between the beautiful greenery, the winding paths, and the quiet little pockets throughout the park, we had plenty of room to let things unfold naturally. Sam and Ben have such an easy connection – lots of laughter, lots of affection, and just enough playfulness to keep things from ever feeling too posed.

From there, we made our way over to Prather Park, where the setting felt a little more tucked away and romantic. I love photographing engagement sessions in Highland Park for exactly this reason. There are so many beautiful, timeless locations that feel distinctly Dallas without distracting from the couple themselves.

And these two really don’t need much direction. They naturally fall into conversation, make each other laugh, and are completely comfortable being themselves together. Those are always some of my favorite engagement sessions to photograph because the images end up feeling like them – not just pretty photographs, but little pieces of their relationship.

The best part is that this is only the beginning. Sam and Ben are getting married next March at Perkins Chapel, followed by their reception at The Room on Main, and I already know their wedding day is going to be such a beautiful reflection of the two of them.

I can’t wait to see these two become husband and wife – and, selfishly, to spend another day laughing with them along the way.
