There is something especially meaningful about getting to photograph a family through so many seasons of their story.
A few years ago, I documented Mallorie’s wedding at Arts Distric Mansion and bridal portraits in the Dallas Arts District & Hall Arts Hotel and her sister’s wedding at Perkins Chapel & Union Station and bridal portraits at Perkins Chapel as they celebrated wedding days just months apart. Since then, I’ve had the joy of photographing not only both sisters’ weddings, but also their sweet newborn days. Being invited back again and again is one of the greatest gifts of this job, and this season was particularly special.
This spring, Mallorie and Jack welcomed their first baby – a beautiful little girl named Addi.
Since first photographed these two during their wedding season, from Mallorie’s bridal portraits in the Dallas Arts District to their wedding day surrounded by family and friends, seeing them now, settled into their new roles as mom and dad, felt like turning the page to an entirely new chapter of a story I’ve been fortunate to witness from the beginning.
Their Dallas home was filled with the kind of quiet joy that seems to accompany those first few weeks with a newborn. Addi spent much of our session peacefully snuggled in her parents’ arms, occasionally opening her eyes to take in the world around her.
One of my favorite spaces in their home was Addi’s nursery. Soft shades of pink, delicate details, and beautiful natural light made it the perfect backdrop for documenting these fleeting early days. The room felt both elegant and cozy – a sweet reflection of the little girl it was created for.
What I love most about in-home newborn sessions is how they preserve more than just what your baby looked like. They capture the spaces where your family began, the way you held your child, and the small moments that will one day feel impossibly distant. Years from now, these images will remind Mallorie and Jack not only of how tiny Addi was, but of what life felt like during these precious first weeks together.
Mallorie and Jack, thank you for inviting me into your home and trusting me to document another milestone in your family’s story. It has been such a privilege to celebrate alongside your family through weddings, newborns, and all the beautiful moments in between. Sweet Addi is already so deeply loved, and I cannot wait to watch her grow.
